Italian Masters of Handicraft
Valley Strona, whose name comes from the torrent, lies over Lake Orta, among bare mountains and wild trees. Its inhabitants are industrious and creative people, attached to the territory. Wood manufacturing is here very diffused. Nowadays the lathe is obviously electric, yet till not long ago it was driven by vanes operated by the water flow. Thus, new technologies and modern plants merge with traditional machinery, and with that manual touch, which bestows the product (gift and fancy goods, kitchenware, furnishings) its precise final footprint. Up-to-date workshops produce now fresh homely product lines, capable of withstanding the most aggressive international competition.
The working cycle contemplates various passages: at first, the logs (ash, poplar, maple, elm, olive tree) are sawed into different sections. Boards and planks are then further chopped, and the resulting parts are subjected to turning and further treatments, even with laser pantograph. Then, painting and desiccation. With the packaging the goods are ready for shipment. This is , as well, prestigious Artisan Excellence, openly acknowledged by the Region.
