Visiting Ciociaria in different seasons makes it possible to appreciate a huge range of lights and colours of a region that is made unique by its natural scenery: grazing land, cliffs, sparkling water streams, golden or snow covered ridges standing out in a perfectly clear blue sky. The vegetation is colourful and quite varied: ilex oaks, beeches, oak chestnuts, poplars, resin-scented pine trees. The Mediterranean scrub and its fragrances… And the multi-coloured gentian and orchid blossoms (30 species). Visitors will find great hospitality, peace and quiet in the Simbruini, Ausoni, Aurunci mountains, and on the low or steep slopes of the Ernici, which can be reached by mountain bike or in the saddle of a horse. Fiuggi, an inviting thermal spa, is definitely worth visiting. Water streams (Aniene, Liri, Melfa) are countless, and from the top of the Circeo travellers will spot the Ponziane arcipelago. And finally two peculiar sites: the floating Island of Rota and Lake Fibreno. And the rocky remains of Acquaviva, a medieval ghost city of the V century.
